Armoires are not just for hanging clothes. They are really useful for storing all sorts of things. Good china and glass look lovely in an armoire just leave the doors ajar to show everyone what's inside. I have two very old and large armoires. One is used as my larder, it has all the household food items in there together with food mixers and blenders. The other has all my household paperwork, bills, statements and documents. Shut the doors and nobody knows how messy it really is. When I've had a real tidy up - then I leave the doors open. Closed or open, I think an armoire is beautiful to look at and very functional. They take pride of place in my home.

Off to France next week. I always find inspiration when I am there. Not only is it a chic place but the light is so good. I like the hour before daylight and the hour just before dark. Last time I was in Nice I saw this beautiful building in pink, grey and off white. So lovely that I thought I would paint an armoire, cupboard or dresser in those three colours. Each time I come back from a buying mission I always have a camera load of photos of things I might use in the future, that building being one of them. It might not be for sometime but later I will use it when I am sifting through the photos for inspiration and when I have found a unique piece that just cries out for...pink, grey and cream paint!!

Needless to say, we in the Attic have it decorating our homes too. In the porch or on the summerhouse it looks great. Went a little overboard at Will and Kate's wedding but it looked wonderful.

I have to say that we are very proud of our bunting. A customer has emailed us to tell that not only is her Tea Shoppe decorated on the outside of it but also inside. The quality of this bunting is great, not plastic but a strong cotton. Make sure you have some for the Diamond Jubilee next year. We are buying up lots but they are going fast.

We are very sorry to see this go
Tomorrow...I am going to start painting our latest French/Continental armoire. It has a glass front and has shelves so ideal for displaying beautiful things. I love them but I cannot keep another one for myself. I am having complaints that we can't move without bumping into something.
Well, that's because we only sell the things we love ourselves. Hmmmmm difficult to let go.

We are so pleased that our lovely bolster cushions are coming back soon. Another line I couldn't resist and had to have them myself. See what you think ...

We just couldn't resist these little chairs. One seems to have it's original colour and the other polished wood. They just reminded us of schools long past.

Just l♥ve this beautiful tiled entrance to what was a garage in Brighton. Had great cobbled driveway and mews type homes.....i ♥ Brighton very very much!

We have been busy this week...painting shelves. We have been asked to supply them for a very important online shopping site! Apparently, they could appear on the first page, so we are very excited but it does mean that we have had to fit painting them into our usual hectic schedule but it's worth the extra work.

There I was, enjoying myself in the garden painting benches. The sun was shining, Arthur the big black labrador sitting at my feet. Perfect! But not for very long. Rain! Everything put under shelter, make tea and try again later! The joys of painting.

Amoire Adoration.....

We love our new Armoires that we are bringing over from Holland, France and Germany. They are proving to be extremely popular..
All of our armoires are approximately 100 yrs old and many have their original features. Inside they come with two shelves or sometimes with their original hooks.
Our workshop are able to customise the insides to suit your needs by adding rails, pegs, side shelves etc.

Our newest team member at 'the Attic

Oh Yes! Thats the other big news...our baby Bertie has joined us at the attic! Please do not be fooled by those sleepy puppy eyes..he is a complete hyper-puppy..but is very cute too x

Ooooppps where did that go?

Now I know this is a very lame excuse but....We have been busy! Still its been 11 busy months since our last blog post which is pathetically bad!
There have been lots of tweets on Twitter about people updating their blogs and I hate to admit it but I had even forgotten how to access it.
Anyway, we are back. Mum and I usually take it in turns to blog (she is far better at it than me).

So what have we been up to? Well I'm very pleased to say that we now have our website http://rubyandbettysattic.com/ well and truly up and running and its great!
Our business has grown rapidly this year and we have made several trips to France to buy many beautiful armoires. We have also expanded our home accessory collection and have lots of great finds such as our beautiful Rusty Angels.
